Kinky Cafés – A Concept to Consider

Recently I visited for the first time Wicked Grounds at 289 8th Street in San Francisco. It’s a wonderful kinky café and boutique nestled in the heart of San Francisco’s South of Market area, home to many of San Francisco’s kinky businesses and happenings. Great atmosphere, great drinks, great food, and a really nice staff. Overall a truly pleasant experience.

My hope is that this concept is replicated elsewhere. Kinky folks have long needed places to gather and socialize with their own kind apart from the bars and other venues where we’ve typically gathered. As a maturing subculture, we need to start thinking outside of the box and create social spaces of all kinds friendly to kinky people. Wicked Grounds is a perfect example of just such a space. I wish them luck and hope other people looking to start a small business consider ventures that are equally creative and unique.

We visited the cafe right after a trip to Mr S and were blown away by the concept.

It certainly seems like it is one that can work anywhere there is a Leather community.
