Fewer Bad Hookups On The Horizon
Today I was looking at a guy’s profile on one of the many gay hookup sites active today and I noticed something interesting. At the end of the guy’s profiles were these words: “Webcam required before hooking up.” Think about that for a moment.
Within a short amount of time I believe webcams on laptop, tablet and smartphone devices will quickly end the era of showing up to someone’s place for a booty call only to discover the photos in the profile were either quite old or digitally altered. It’s a common refrain you hear from folks who enjoy hooking up through online sites. They show up and the person they meet is not the same person in the photos.
Rather soon it’s going to become standard online hookup practice to request a webcam chat prior to the hookup. Webcams will be so ubiquitous and the technology so simple that there will rarely be a valid excuse anyone will have to not engage in a webcam chat prior to a face-to-face meeting.
Online hookup aficionados, rejoice. You’re about to experience fewer bad hookups.

October 17, 2011 at 11:35 pmYou know, though… I’ve had very few hook-ups where the photos didn’t match the, um, original and – to be honest – I kind of enjoy that feeling of anticipation that comes from wondering who will actually show up at my door.
I’m not saying I like disappointments, but already braced with the knowledge that few photos ever tell you much about the man with whom you’ve just made a date, only adds an erotic sense of mystery to the encounter-to-be. Yeah, I’ve run across a few that didn’t seem quite as honest as they might have been (“Muscular, eh?”) but rarely has it ever been a huge issue.
The other factor, of course, is that few photos really say much about a guy’s abilities. That really only comes out when the action begins.

October 18, 2011 at 5:12 pmWell, if this does become the case then I’m going to invest in a decent webcam and some proper lighting. It will at least compel me to keep one section of the apartment clean and tidy to serve as a decent backdrop.. Hey, wonder if I can get a green screen??
